Job Purpose

Responsibility of production planning for all products in the Barilla North America portfolio of dry pasta, sauce, and bakery including Barilla, Wasa, Catelli, and Lancia Brands in order to ensure service to customers, inventory in the network, production efficiency and overall total supply cost.

 

This is a hybrid role based out of Northbrook, IL.

 


Key Accountabilities


 
•    Lead Production Planning Team consisting of two professional planners with specific portfolios for import, co-manufacturing, and repacking.
•    Optimize and strategically direct all production capacity: generate and manage strategic production plan and implement with the other planners incorporating additional needs into the run strategy as needed. 
•    Publish and report to Americas Senior Leadership team all criticalities with limited supply and risk of service to customer including overview of inventory coverage and current service level trends.
•    Responsible for the Annual Production Budget, maintaining all master data, ensuring accurate system output and collaborating with Global Production Planners to ensure strategic use of assets and capacities globally.
•    Generate and manage the execution of the medium- and long-term production plans consisting of 24 production locations to ensure achievement of order fill rate and target inventory levels by SKU at lowest landed cost across the network.  Oversee short term production plans developed by planning team members.
•    Demand analysis: Work constantly with demand planning to analyze demand deviation, set priorities and solve unexpected situations in terms of customer demand.
•    Run analysis on total demand in the supply network considering capacity constraints and bottlenecks.
•    Responsible for project management for new items, packaging changes and other business initiatives, ensuring on time execution with no negative customer impact.  Maintain close alignment with plants to achieve overall business objectives.
•    Responsible for maintaining planning master data to ensure the system is up-to-date and running efficiently. 
•    Provide clear, timely communication and tactical relationship management with external parties supporting manufacturing operations (e.g., packaging suppliers, raw material suppliers, USDA).
•    Ensure accurate production reporting and timely and accurate product releases
•    Collaborate with necessary contacts to set production priorities and adjust production plans to achieve stated service and cost objectives.
•    Take care of unexpected supply issues and work with the supply chain team to implement viable solutions reducing the risks and costs involved.
•    Implement and enhance production planning processes and solutions for medium, short-term.
•    Other duties as assigned.

 

Desired Skills and Background

 
•    Bachelor’s degree in a business discipline
•    5+ years’ experience in Supply Chain Management in Consumer Package Goods (CPG) industry
•    Prior ERP experience with Supply Chain Management modules (e.g. SAP, APO, JDA…) a plus
•    Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
•    High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of Access
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills
•    Strong project management skills
•    Ability to work strategically and tactically with a hands-on approach
•    Ability to travel 15-20% annually, to plants and internationally.

 

As of the date of this posting, the estimated pay range for this role is $105k-$122k plus eligibility to participate in the annual discretionary bonus plan. The actual pay for the position will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to job-related experience, skills, education, location, and internal equity. This range may be subject to change over time.
