Working context


The stageur will work inside the Agronomy research Team which, among the main responsibilities, manage basil agronomy research projects and design and test innovative farming models (e.g. regenerative agriculture system).

 

Job purpose


Research and implementation of agronomic digital tools (eg. forecasting models, remote sensing, AI, …), sustainable cultivation systems (eg. Regenerative agriculture) and biocontrol strategies.
He/she will work in collaboration with the Agronomy team, applying directly in the field and with farmers, the innovative practices and the digital tools developed. 
The candidate will work within internal and external networks: Barilla Agronomy research team and Purchasing department, farmers, research centers/institution, service providers. 

 

Main activities

 

  • Identify new agricultural techniques to promote the transition from conventional to regenerative agriculture in basil cultivation.
  • Plan the design of experiments and carry out field trials.
  • Collaborate with identify basil cultivars tolerant to biotic and abiotic stresses (diseases, water scarcity,…).
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of digital and AI technologies (e.g. irrigation modeling, decision support systems, smart measurement systems,…).
  • Collaborate with the Agronomy team applying innovative biocontrol practices.
  • Data collection, analysis and reporting.


Requirements

 

  • Degree in Agriculture science and technology (3-5 years degree). 
  • Knowledge and/or experience on sustainable agriculture systems or on smart farming tools.
  • Interest for innovative cultivation systems applied to our strategic raw materials. 
  • Attitude to team-working and co-design approach.
  • Ability to nurture good relationship.
  • Ability to face different problems keeping ideas.
  • Good communication skills, to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluency in Italian and English, both spoken and written.
  • Self-capacity to take decisions/prioritize activities.
  • Proactivity 
  • Availability to travel in national territory.
