Job description
We are looking for a Demand Planning Intern to join the Supply Chain Demand Planning team.
JOB PURPOSE
The intern will support the team in regularly producing short, medium and long-term forecasts, in relation to volumes expected for shipment and turnover volumes, pointing out any gaps versus targets.
He/she will learn how to contribute to the overall business turnover through a shipping forecast that secures products availability, optimal level of service and minimum costs.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- The intern will support the Demand Planning team and progressively learn how to:
- Ensure that the promotional information provided by the Sales team are analysed, re-classified and re-processed by category, item, volume and expected shipping date – taking into account customers sales trends – with the aim to define the promotional impact on future demand.
- Analyse the impact that advertising campaigns (ADV), new products launches (Innovation) and product terminations have on the demand component.
- Analyse the market performance of each category/item, as well as short and medium-term trends, adding the “Base-Line” demand trend to get a complete overview of all demand components.
- Generate the overall demand by Trade Unit, in comparison with the same period in previous years and the company targets.
- Generate the shipping forecast, with details by item, by week and by processing frequency – in line with planning processes and to allow Supply Chain to deploy them into production plans.
- Generate the turnover forecast for both short and medium terms, highlighting any gaps versus targets.
- On a weekly basis, verify the product availability with the Central Demand Planning and Production Planning units; identify any issues in relation to production capacity and proactively work with Trade Marketing, Sales and Supply Chain to maximize potential opportunities in contexts of shortages.
- Make use of the Sales Governance system, the Demand Planning system, and other Custom Tools required for planning.
- Constantly monitor the forecasts accuracy and their progress versus targets, looking for areas of continuous improvement.
- Regularly produce analysis and reports relevant to Demand Planning, as well as in support to the Marketing, Trade and Sales management teams.
REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s Degree in Management Engineering or similar studies.
- Fluency in English and Italian.
- Strong proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Power BI will be considered a plus
- Attitude to prioritize and manage complex and multiple tasks, with a “can do” attitude.
- Attention to details and analytical skills.
- Problem-solving.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication.
