Job description
For our Global Condiments Packaging Development, Global Packaging Innovation & CoE Graphics team we are looking for a Global Packaging Innovation Senior Specialist. The role will report to the Global Condiments Packaging Development, Global Packaging Innovation & CoE Graphics Director and will be based in Parma.
Job Purpose
To execute the technical part of the assigned projects within the Global Packaging Innovation, contributing to design superior future packaging experience for our consumers, while achieving the optimal balance among superior quality, future environmental responsibility challenges with an eye on the medium/long feasibility.
Key Accountabilities
- Based on the strategy defined by upper managers, to execute the technical activities to design new packaging solutions (Consumer, Trade and Handling Units), starting from deep consumers and customers’ needs understanding and applying a Shopper/ consumer/ Customer’s Design driven approach.
- To work in close collaboration with internal and external partners in order to validate that the new solutions are adding value to stakeholders and to the Company.
- To support the food safety risk assessment of the new/improved materials, executing the necessary trials and analysis, providing solid data to the decision makers.
- To contribute to the preliminary costs and feasibility assessment of the new solutions, leveraging on solid business relations with the involved functions.
- To support the sustainability evaluation of the new/improved materials, executing the necessary trials and analysis, providing solid data to the decision makers.
- Based on the strategy defined by upper managers, to execute the technical activities in order to bring new packaging materials to life and to significantly improve existing materials through new technological solutions, leveraging on solid business relations with internal and external stakeholders.
- To support the food safety risk assessment of the new/improved materials, executing the necessary trials and analysis, providing solid data to the decision makers.
- To support the sustainability evaluation of the new/improved materials, executing the necessary trials and analysis, providing solid data to the decision makers.
- To contribute to the preliminary costs and feasibility assessment of the new solutions, leveraging on solid business relations with the involved functions.
- Based on the strategy defined by upper managers, contribute to the ideation and development of new packaging technologies, leveraging on strong partnership with Technical Development.
- Based on the strategy defined by upper managers, to continuously scout the external environment for new potential solutions (packaging design, materials, packaging technologies) adding value to Barilla and its stakeholder.
- To concretely contribute to the further development and spreading of innovation culture within the Packaging community.
- To approach all the activities based on a solid data-driven approach and decision making. To contribute to the digital evolution of the Packaging unit by looking for, shaping, adapting and early testing new digital solutions in order to enhance the efficiency and the effectiveness of the Global Packaging unit.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food/Packaging Science-technology, Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or related fields is mandatory
- From 1 to 3 years of experience in Packaging or other R&D environment, Engineering - FMCG companies
- Having worked on long term innovation projects and/or packaging will represent a preferred experience
- Experience with the use of AutoCAD or drawing software will be highly preferred
- Communication, negotiation, assertiveness, international team player, planning results oriented
- Fluency in English is a must, Italian is a relevant asset
