Job description
Barilla is looking for a Pilot Plant Technician, within our Pilot Plant in Parma. The position will report to the Program Manager.
Job Purpose
- Supports the Product Development Manager, in executing pilot plant trials and industrial trials, proposing product/process improvement and solutions.
- Execute tests and productions in pilot areas, in the defined time and manner, proposing any necessary improvements.
- Supports product development projects and successive pilot plant productions, participating in the entire process from raw material storage to product development or production of finished product for sale.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborates with the Product Development Manager in drafting the experimental plan and defining the execution plan, proposing solutions and formulations to optimize results.
- Identifies tools and equipment suitable for the execution of the experimental trial, then takes care of their maintenance and cleaning.
- Ensures the sourcing of specific raw materials for the test.
- Manages the preparation of samples for product and shelf-life testing.
- Plans and executes small experimental creation plans for new product ideas or improvement of certain products features.
- Supports the technologist during industrial trials, both at the Barilla plants and at the co-packers, and, when necessary, execute the trials independently.
- Proposes solutions and provides insights for product/process improvement, based on the trials conducted in the pilot plant.
- Supports the Product Development Manager, participating in the definition of process and product STDs.
- Compiles test forms and archives data and samples.
- At the end of each trial, is responsible for drafting and archiving the project report, in collaboration with the Product Development Manager.
- Performs desk research aimed at innovation and experimentation for new product ideas.
- Shares knowledge within the pool and supports training resources within his/her areas of expertise.
- Execute the productions following the process standards.
- Performs defined controls during production and records their outcomes.
- Manages, records and archives traceability data, according to the chosen system, for: raw materials, semi-finished products, packs, finished product.
- Verifies the presence and accuracy of legal information (lot, expiration date, minimum information) on the finished product.
- Manages the project's dedicated warehouse for raw materials, packaging, and finished product by unloading the uses or packs sold.
- Reports promptly any shortages or anomalies.
Requirements
- Passion for food and cooking, passion for research and innovation
- Diploma ITS Fod Tech or Food Development
- Food Pilot Plant experience of 5-10 years
- Fluent in Italian, B1 in English
- Teamwork attitude, focus on results and agile mindset
